How to Check Your UK SIM Number from Pakistan
Just received a UK SIM and need to find your phone number? This guide covers USSD codes, provider apps, and other methods for Giffgaff, Lyca, Vodafone, Three, and EE — all from Pakistan.
You have your UK SIM in hand, but what is the actual phone number? This is a common question — especially if the packaging does not clearly show it or you have misplaced the documentation. Here is how to find your UK SIM number for every major provider, from Pakistan.
Method 1: Check the SIM Packaging or Documentation
The simplest method: look at the packaging. Most UK SIMs come with a credit card-sized holder that displays the phone number. Giffgaff SIMs typically include the number on a sticker or printed on the holder. If you bought from a reseller like uksimpakistan.store, the number is usually communicated via WhatsApp or included in the delivery package.
Method 2: USSD Codes (Works from Pakistan)
USSD codes are dialed like a phone number and return information instantly. However, they only work if your UK SIM has a signal and is registered on a Pakistani network. Here are the codes for major providers:
| Provider | USSD Code to Dial | Works in Pakistan? |
|---|---|---|
| Giffgaff | *100# then select "My Number" | Yes (free) |
| Lyca Mobile | *132# | Yes (may not work on all networks) |
| Vodafone UK | *#100# | Usually yes |
| Three UK | *#100# | May not work while roaming |
| EE | *#100# | Usually yes |
For Giffgaff: dial *100# and press call. A menu will appear. Navigate to the option that says "My Number" or "My giffgaff number." The number will be displayed on screen. This is free and works from Pakistan as long as the SIM has a signal.
Method 3: Provider Apps
Each major UK provider has an app that shows your phone number on the dashboard or settings page:
- Giffgaff app: Download from Play Store / App Store. Log in with your Giffgaff account. Your number is displayed at the top of the dashboard. If you do not have a Giffgaff account, you can create one using the number (but you need the number first — circular problem).
- Lyca Mobile app: Your number is shown on the "My Account" screen after login.
- Vodafone UK, Three UK, EE apps: Similar — log in and your number is visible on the main screen.
The challenge with apps: you often need to know your number to register for the app in the first place. This is where the USSD code or packaging method is more practical.
Method 4: Call or Text Another Phone
If you have a second phone (your Pakistani SIM), call or text it from your UK SIM. Your UK number will appear as the caller ID. Note: this costs money — a call is £1.00/min and an SMS is £0.30 on Giffgaff roaming. However, this is sometimes the fastest method if USSD codes do not work.
The number will appear in the format +44 7XXX XXXXXX. The +44 is the UK country code. Remove the leading 0 when writing it in international format (UK numbers start with 07, but in international format, the 0 is dropped: +44 7XXX...).
Method 5: Check Your Online Account
If you have already set up an online account with your UK provider, log in from a browser. Your phone number is always visible in account settings. For Giffgaff: giffgaff.com > My giffgaff > Account Details. For Lyca: lycamobile.co.uk > My Lyca > My Profile.
What If None of These Methods Work?
If USSD codes do not work from Pakistan (sometimes they are blocked while roaming), try these fallbacks:
- Contact the seller: If you bought from a reseller, ask them for the number. Reputable sellers maintain records of the numbers they ship.
- Insert the SIM in the UK: If you or someone you know is traveling to the UK, have them insert the SIM there. USSD codes and apps work reliably within the UK.
- Contact the provider directly: Giffgaff and other providers have online support communities. You may need to know the SIM serial number (ICCID — printed on the SIM card itself) to get help.
Once you find your number, write it down. Save it in your contacts. Take a photo. You will need it for every verification you perform. Losing your UK number is one of the most common mistakes Pakistani buyers make.
